Roro Bins Misuse: KWEPA Launches Sensitization


The General Manager of the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), Alhaji Saad Ayuba Dan-Musa, together with his team, went on a Sensitization visit in Ilorin today, the 19th of May, 2021 to Challenge, Post Office, Maraba and Gada areas where roro bins have been strategically placed.

The purpose of the visit was to sensitize the public on the appropriate usage of the roro bins and warn them of the repercussions that offenders will face. 

Alhaji Dan-Musa warned the residents not to dump hot charcoal, corpses, dead animals or other unsightly things into the roro bins. He also reiterated that roro bins are for wastes  and people should not be putting fire in it.

The G.M. also revealed to them that non-compliance will soon be a punishable offense that will be referred to the soon-to-be established Mobile Courts.
 
One of the places visited was 
Maraba where the Iyaloja of Maraba identified with the government of H.E Abdulrazak Abdulrahman and pled with the government to move the roro bin from its present location to another strategic place which she showed the team. She said the new location will also help ease the problem of road blockage which the particular roro bin has been causing.

In a similar development, the KWEPA team also visited the General Manager of  Water Corporation, Engineer Shehu Umar, in a solidarity visit.

Engr. Umar appreciated the Agency's efforts in ensuring a clean and safe Kwara and he also brought up the issue of the noise pollution emanating from the generating sets of the Central Bank of Nigeria which they are sharing fence with. He implored KWEPA to look into the matter in order to put an end to the environmental nuisance.

While responding, the G.M of KWEPA  appreciated the Management of Water Corporation adding that there has being a good working relationship between the Agency and the corporation, adding that they are always willing to assist anytime there are issues of broken pipes causing environmental disturbance in the state

Alh. Saad Dan-Musa promised to look into the issue of the noise pollution in order to prevent future occurrences, not only in Water Corporation but in other Ministries, Departments and Agencies,  facing such nuisance too.
