KWEPA celebrates Ozone day in Collaboration with KWARGAP.

The Kwara State government through Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), in conjunction with the Kwara State Association of Repairers of Gas Associated Products on Wednesday celebrated the 2021 day with a seminar on how to effectively handle gas and dispose chemicals to avoid depletion.

The Ozone layer is a region of the earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the sun's ultraviolet which otherwise is capable of damaging exposed life, causes skin cancer, cataract, and other ecological problems that are environmental related hence the need for KWEPA to spearhead this in order to enlighten the workers on the consequences of improper disposal of chemical products.

Giving the opening address ah the seminar, the General manager of the Agency, Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa commended the initiative of the executives of the association for organizing such an impactful event.

Alhaji Sa'ad  said that if professionals are well trained on how to correctly handle chemicals and gas then there would be less environmental problems and more lives would be saved.

Mr Towoju Goke, the Director Environment representing the Commissioner of Environment stated that the government is working tirelessly to ensure that the environment is kept safe,  clean and conducive for the people of state and so this event is in conformity with the mission of the state government.
