KWEPA Directs UITH to Obtain Environmental Management Plan

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has directed the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Management to ensure that proper monitoring is given to their fumigation process and that they should obtain the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), which is a very important requirement before the erection of new structures, from the Agency. 

The General Manager of the Agency, Alhaji Saad Ayuba Dan-Musa, gave the directive during an inspection of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Oke-Ose, in order to ensure that the hospital is environmental health compliant.

The inspectorate team of the Agency had earlier stormed the premises of UITH to check for environmental law violations, during which the patient wards, food handlers,  waste disposal site, mortuary and the general environment were inspected.

Dan-Musa, commended the management of the UITH for a job well done and urged them to follow the Agency's directives in future environmental health management.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof. Abdullahi Dasliva Yussuf,  welcomed the team and informed them that the hospital is a custodian of cleanliness and it will not compromise on this regardless of the situation.

The hospital management  the team thanked the team for coming and promised to put all the recommendations of the team to work.

On the team were Deputy Directors of Environment, Head of Fumigation Unit, Mr Rufus Adebayo; Head of Waste Management Unit, Mrs Adedotun Taiwo
Head of Industrial and Laboratory services Department, Mr Hassan Likpata, Alhaji Yunusa Jiddah, Mrs Are and Mr Abdulsalam.
