Dumping of Construction Sand on Government Road is a Prosecutable offence- KWEPA GM

The General Manager, Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa has issued a stern warning to those fond of dumping heaps of construction sand on government roads as part of the fight against road encroachment intensifies.

Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa explained, that the heaps of sand dumped on the road eventually flow into the drainage systems to block the free flow of water which eventually lead to flooding. 

Dan-Musa who embarked on a monitoring tour around the Fate axis of Ilorin,the state capital,  discovered that majority of shop owners had heaps  of sand dumped on the government road, and  instructed those concerned to evacuate the sands from the road within 24hours as the state government will not tolerate any form of sabotage to it's effort in ensuring environmental compliance.

The General Manager, in his conversation with one of the shop owners, made reference to the unfortunate incident of the woman who was carried away by the flood during the course of the past week while reiterating the importance of keeping the drainage systems free.

He further admonished the store owners to comply within the stipulated time on the Abatement notices they were issued or risk greater sanctions.
