... Intensified efforts on Maintenance of Personal Hygiene in ARMTI...

As one of the cardinal focus and mandate of His Excellency, Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdul Rasaq in ensuring good health, safe and habitable environment is further restored in the State, the General Manager of Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency, Alh Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa has therefore gave a matching order to his staff to  embark on Massive Inspection Exercise.

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency took her inspection to the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Jimba-Oja, Irepodun, kwara State.

As part of its regular statutory assignments in ensuring that lives of people in the State are adequately protected from contacting  diseases, as well as in its resolute efforts in preventing the outbreak of epidemic has again maintained that strict compliance to hygienic practice become pivotal for all and sundry  in Kwara State especially, the government regulated bodies.

The Director of Admin of Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute, Jimba-Oja, kwara State who received the KWEPA Team expressed his delight for the august visit of the Agency saying that the Institute is aware of the exercise and in no time, took the Team round the entire premises of the Institute.

During the inspection session, thorough examinations were carried out and the Team was able to cover  maximum areas, ranging from the hostels, restaurant, classrooms as well as the management of wastes and fumigation were all duly observed.

Similarly, at the Basic School Section of the institute, same exercise took place as Mr Tolulope Samuel O. who lead the KWEPA Team, duly explained to the Head of the School the pivotal reason why such inspection exercise is unnegotiable.

While attending to the Team, the Head of the Basic School, Mrs Christiana I. Salawu revealed that the service of fumigation is often done by a staff of the school, but the Team thereby enlightened the School Management that such act is tantamount to the violation of the laid down rules and regulation of the Agency.

Speaking further Mr. Tolulope thus  reinstated that it's only the Agency that is saddled with fumigation and waste management, and if such exercise would be done at all by private body, it must be affirmed that such is officially accredited and certified by the Agency.

In the meantime, the Management of the Institute, especially at the Basic Section,  expressed deep concern as the health of the Students and the entire inhabitants of the environ is perceived to be in serious danger due to the carbon monoxide emitting from KAM-STEEL Factory situated nearby the school which if quick action is not taken can gradually get many lives maimed

By and large, the KWEPA Inspection Team, thus urged the Institute not to derail from maintaining good personal hygiene so that good health and clean environment will be assured in the state, still assuring them that the Agent will in no time take the bull by the horn with regards to the environmental challenge the institute is currently facing.

In attendance were, Mr. Emanuel Idris(Admin Officer) and Engnr. Olaniyi Joseph who represented the Head of Maintenance.
