KWEPA Seeks For Physical Planning Authority Support in Fighting Open Defecation

In continuance of the fight against Open Defecation and Road Encroachment, the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has stretched an arm of synergy towards the Physical Planning Authority.

The General Manager, Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency, Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa in a visit to the Authority in Ilorin reiterated the importance of ensuring that there are toilet facilities provision in buildings brought to them for approval.

Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa explained that the staff of the Agency are experiencing some difficulties in the discharge of their duties on Environmental Impact Assessment as they are been questioned and stopped from performing their duties with the claim that the Physical Planning Authority has already given them approval.

Dan-Musa lamented the pitiable condition of shops in the Adifa axis of the state stating that majority of the stores have no toilet and are guilty of open defecation a situation that requires urgent intervention.


He pleaded with the General Manager of Physical Planning Authority to join hands with KWEPA to work together to deal with developers who perpetrate the evil of failing to erect toilet facilities even after getting approval.

The Head of Department, Environmental Impact Assessment, Mr Mohammed Abubakar said that there is need for the issuance of a more comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment Report from KWEPA, a comprehensive Environmental related report generated . based on tests carried out.

Mr Mohammed urged the PPA to adopt and accept this development as he disclosed that this trend is already in existence in other states of the federation and it has recorded considerable success.

The General Manager, Physical Planning Authority, TPL Taiye Mohammed in his response said that the coming is expected and assures of his support.
