KWEPA GOES RUGGED ON TRADERS FOR STRICT ENFORCEMENT.

The kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) in its continuous effort in ensuring that environmental sanity is restored in our major markets has gone rugged on traders at Yoruba Road Market today. 


This enforcement exercise which was carried out in synergy with the Directorate of Physical Planing and Development Control, KW-GIS, Kwara Road Traffic Maintenance Agency, and kwara State Civil Defence Corps, premised on the incessant and frequent complaints issued on the Traders at Yoruba Road Market on road invasions, and trading activities which has been constituting public nuisance within its environ. 

The General Manager of the Agency Alh. Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa while on the duty, expressed dismay saying that, despite several warnings and the recent meeting, the office (KWEPA) had with the executives of the Market, they still thwarted government order thereby sabotaging efforts of Government in making kwara State habitable for all; lamented the General Manager. 

Alh. Ayuba Dan-Musa, however reiterated that the lead Administration of Mallam  AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq will not relent in ensuring that all abnormalities in our ecosystem returned to normal and environmental sanity be restored to avert outbreak of pandemic in the State. 

  During the exercise, the Agency with joint effort of other relevant government bodies ensures that strict measures were taken and maximum success was recorded as traders immediately packed all their goods away from road sides and gutters were also thoroughly sanitized. 

"... government will do all that require to ensure strict compliance to environmental law... the gutter is government property and no one is allowed to display goods beyond gutter level...gutters must be left opened with regular sanitation. 

Meanwhile, Abatement Notice were served  on some shops and two other complex which are still under construction for causing drainage blockage and environmental nuisance; all defaulter have been ordered to report to the Agency in due time. 

On the patrol also were, Tpl. Hanafi, Amuda Agaka, Dir. Development Control, Tpl. Mashood Sa'ad, Dir. PPRS, Officer Okedare M. O. and Officer Idiaro M. Y. KWARTMA.
