KWEPA charges Food Outlets on Environmental Hygiene in Malete.

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) in the fulfilment of its mandate of ensuring that every part of the state enjoys safe and habitable environment, has charged food outlets in Malete, Moro Local Government Area, on environmental hygiene.

The General Manager of the Agency, Alh. Sa'ad Ayuba Danmusa, led the Agency's team  on a routine inspection tour to Malete town yesterday.

Addressing the food vendors  on environmental sanity, hesaid:

"This inspection visit is out of the Agency's mandate to regulate and ensuring total  compliance on environmental hygiene; also, to curb the likely infestation of diseases and upsurge of pandemic in the town.

 Dan-Musa stressed that with the town's growing increase in population due to the educational activities of Kwara State University, Malete Campus, coupled with its vast growing level in business activities,   proactive and preventive measures must  be observed.

The Agency's food inspection team  touch quite anumber of food outlets, offered the managers/owners  some information and basic requirements which must be met to make their food outlets hygienic and safe for patronage.

 In the course of the inspection, some environmental vices were observed by the team- varying from poor management of waste, non presentation of Health Safety Permit, Food Outlet Permit, Certificate of Fumigation exercise, and some other environmental related issues.

Abatement notices were issued and served on those outlets found wanting or devoid of compliance to environmental sanity within their business premises to report to its office for onward compliance to environmental rules and regulation.

Dan-Musa, therefore, charged all the food  outlets in Malete Town to endeavour take caution on environmental pollution, upholding proper environmental sanitation of their premises, while reinstating that government will not relent efforts toward ensuring that every nook and crannies of the State remain pandemic free and habitable for all.
