Embrace Clean  Environment  Culture - KWEPA GM Charges Ilorin Residents

The Kwara State Government has again reaffirmed its readiness to get rid of any environmental nuisance to avert preventable disaster in the state.

The General Manager, Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency, Alh. Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa, gave the indication during a physical  inspection carried out yesterday in Ilorin, the state capital city.

Alh. Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa, in company of  the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority, Alh. Akeem Adegboye, while addressing some traders at the Post Office Area, Ilorin Metropolis, expressed great dismay at the traders defiant flauting of the state's environmental laws.

Alh. Sa'ad who disclosed that before now KWEPA had chided the marketers on the illegal displays of their products on road setbacks, walkways and road encroachment, adding that several consultative fora had been held with the market's executives on the issue, hence necessary action would be taken. 

He, reiterated that the present administration had  allocated a place for the secondhand clothes sellers  and other traders at Kulende Market, affirmed  that under bridge is totally an  unacceptable place for trading of any kinds.

"We had on several occasions passed serious warning through your Trader's Union Executives that you stop trading under the bridge, a place had been reserved for you at kulende, but you wouldn't give serious regards to the constituted authority",lamented the general manager.

Also speaking, the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, KWARTMA, Alh. Akeem Adegboye,  said that trading under the bridge was  tantamount to risking their lives against any undesired eventuality.

Adegboye, urged those who  indulge in illegal trading under the bridge  should desist, saying that KWARTMA and KWEPA, after this warning, would swing into action immediately to ensure strict compliance to environmental laws towards ensuring safety of lives and  healthier upkeep of its environment.
