KWEPA Admonishes  Residents to Embrace Environmental Sanitary Culture, Maintain Traffic Decorum

The General Manager of the  Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency, Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa, has charged the people of the state to embrace high hygenic standards and traffic decorum.

Dan-Musa gave the charge in the course of  on-the-field storming exercise at Oja-Oba Ilorin, the state capital, in conjuction with other members of  Kwara State Taskforce- Kwara Road Traffic Maintenance Agency (KWARTMA), State Civil Defense Security Corps (SCDSC), and U & I, a Non-Governmental Organisation.

Addressing the public and traders in the area, the general manager expressed serious displeasure at the residents'  incessant flauting of government's order on environmental cleanliness, adding that proper maintenance of water drainage systems, free-flow of human and vehicular movement on public roads and utility be adequately observed.

The exercise focused on  charting a new course on environmental related issues bedeviling the state ranging from, encroachment, indiscriminate dumping of waste, lack of toilet facilities in most of the shops around Oja-Oba axis and its extension to a bearest minimal.

" Proper maintenance of water drainage system, public roads and utility must by all be given due cognisance, to enable the inhabitants and the entire citizen have access to a traffic freed and clean environment, recounted the general manager.


Speaking further, Ayuba maintained that the display of goods by traders beyond drainages and illegal packing of vehicles on most of the state roads in market areas  impede smooth passage of vehicles capable of endangering lives of the pedestrians plying on the roads.

He, therefore, adivised traders to desist from illegal display of their wares beyond drainages, while motorist must obey trafick regulations.

In his contribution, Chairman of the NGO group, Elder Fabiyi Emmanuel O, admonished the  residents, especially the marketers, on the need to cooperate with the government in its stride in curtailing environmental nuisance within its metropolis.

The  exercise was appraised by all the representatives of the taskforce involved,  saying that such was an intensive, encouraging and pragmatic approach would yeild desired result, whilst pledging support for the agency when ever the need arises.
