KWEPA ARRESTS DEFAULTERS ON ILLICIT DUMPING OF WASTE

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), has arrested yet two offenders for dumping waste indiscriminately along Amilengbe, Ilorin South LGA, recently.

The perpetrators of this ugly act met their Waterloo as they were caught red handed by the General Manager of the Agency Alh. Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa at about 8:32pm on Friday, 20th of January, 2023 while dumping heaps of refuse at Amilengbe Bridge.

To the dismay of the general manager, both the offenders who would be assumed to be enlightened and educated, one with exotic car, Hilux Tundra with the Plate Number (Abuja KUJ-629 BW) and other being a tricycle rider,  brought out refuse in large volume containing expired drinks, remnants, and domestic waste, pouring them on the side of the bridge.

Alh. Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa, while apprehending the defaulters at the scene expressed great displeasure and condemned it, noting that the act is injurious and threatening to the general well being of citizens and the environs.

Albeit, the Agency and its  Ministry in the State had on several occasions warned the general public on the exigent need to desist from forms of unhygienic practices of which illegal dumping of refuse in public utilities makes the top lists, an act which can degenerate to outbreak of disease and  environmental disasters like, flood among others, Ayuba emphasized.

"Now and then, both the Agency, KWEPA and State Ministry of Environment have been drumming it to you that this illicit act be shunned at all cost, it bewildered one to still find set of elites and educated ones indulging in this sinfulness.

According to Ayuba, the act committed by both the offenders is a torpid and a deliberate act to sabotaging government efforts in ensuring that every nooks and crannies of the State remain clean and habitable for its citizenry, adding that this will further serve as deterrent to other numerous miscreants of the same act yet apprehended.

Ayuba, said the offence committed by the two offenders is totally contravened the KWEPA Law, Cap K16 of 2012, while handling both the offenders immediately over to the State Civil Defence Corps Office to be remanded at its custody till Monday, 23rd January, 2023 for onward prosecution.
