Waste to Energy: Private Power Generation Company Approaches KWEPA for Synergy

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency, KWEPA has been approached by a Private Energy Generation Company, Jiangying Lancheng Environmental Protection Technology CO.Limited, for synergy in its bid on the establishment of a Steam Energy Plant in the State for sustainable power supply.

While presenting its bid, yesterday at the agency's office, the company's team leader, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Gobir, explained that the visit was to seek the agency's support in achieving its proposed bid to establish a Steaming Power (energy) generation Company in the state; a project envisioned to profer a maximum succour to the recurring epileptic and insufficient power supply in the state.

According to Alhaji Gobir, the company chose Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency amongst its point of contacts on the nature of its operation and its raw materials which basically rely on tons of waste available, adding that, "to kick start the operation, it would require over 800 tons of waste volume per day, which in turn could result to 480,000 kilowatts of Electrical Energy generation on a daily basis.

"The project to us is a worthwhile and it is our wish that Kwara State should be a starting point in Nigeria, as it had been embraced by many advanced countries like Germany and China as well as even some parts of Africa like Zimbabwe.


Gobir further explained that the project will provide quite numerous potentials to the larger population of the state, especially the teeming youths, in areas like employment, social infrastructure, as well as help uplifting the state's economic standard and its revenue generation if eventually attained it's fruition.

The general manager of the agency, Alhaji Ayuba Dan-Musa, while hosting the representative of the Company Jiangying Lancheng Environmental Protection Technology CO., Limited, applauded the initiative and appreciated them for finding the agency worthy of contact.

 Dan-Musa envisaged that the proposed bid would receive government support  for the numerous advantage it tends to offer in the state, adding that it would provide a conjugal support on its long foresighted programme, "Waste to Wealth' as well as help curtailing and reducing the irate level of environmental violation and hazard to barest minimal.

" We are glad to receive you on this laudable initiative and we would give our support as it would benefit the good people of our dear state in terms of job opportunity, encourage adequate power generation and supply to the best advantage of the general citizens in the state; disclosed, Dan-Musa.

Also speaking, Director of Environment, Mr Gabriel Towoju, extolled the idea as a commendable effort, as it would enable diversification of source of energy generation and would help to abate environmental hazards in the state, while advising that some key aspects of human endeavour like, environmental impact, affordability  of the bye product and Cooperate Social Responsibilities (CSR) amongst others be prioritise to enable it receive maximum patronage.

In her vote of thanks, the Secretary of the agency, Alh. Idayat Folorunsho, also applauded the move on the project especially for choosing Kwara State as its litmus test in Nigeria, assuring the company's representative possible attainment of its bid, saying that Kwara State in the recent time has become an attraction and habitable place where business thrive.

Folorunsho, however, enjoined the company to give the agency time to escalate its message to other concerned quarters of government appropriately for further presentation of its proposal, while requesting them that both manuscript and audiovisual plan of the project be made available to the agency soonest.
