STRICT SANCTION AWAITS ENVIRONMENTAL DEFAULTERS: KWEPA WARNS

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), today in its continuous quest toward ensuring environmental nuisance in the state is overtly curtailed has again warned that strict sanction awaits any violation of its laws.

The General Manager of the agency, Alh.  Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa expressed this while reacting to the disheartening event happened at Post Office axis as his officers received serious assaults in the hands of the obstinate defaulters.

"Following its numerous efforts and several sensitization both on the radio and regular routine inspection exercise, the office believes that by now good hygienic practice and strict adherence to environmental laws should have become a norm in the state. remarked, the General Manager.

It came as a rude shuck as the office (KWEPA), at the early hour today, during its routine environmental inspection at Post Office axis, received a serious resistance in the hands of the stubborn defaulters trading on the road walkways and under bridge.

It is on records that the office on several occasion had warned the marketers trading their business in the area to desist from the illegal display of their market on the road side and the under bridge as such is tantamount to   obstruction of free movement to the pedestrians thereby exposing the public to danger but failed to comply.

The General  Manager of the agency, Alh. Ayuba Dan-Musa has insisted that the office will not rest on its hoes in making sure that proper environmental maintenance and safety of life of citizens is well safeguarded.

Dan-Musa upon this development, declared that henceforth, strict measures will be taken against any unscrupulous element aiming at putting government efforts on environmental sanity in jeopardy.

Dan-Musa, however, further reinstated that "no real government will wish to unjustly make life difficult for its citizens, rather it should ensure safety of life and property for its state; but when the business firms, industries, marketers and regulated premises intends to cause environmental pollution or threatening people's health condition through their action and inaction activities, the government would not hesitate to rise to the occasion to ensure that needful is done.
